In our competition of who can post very-infrequently-but-still-more-than-the-other-guy, it now appears that I am winning with 3 posts this year. Sadly, with you going on the DL like this, it looks like I’ll have no real competition. Any chance you’ll be reactivated for the playoffs?

So I’m trying it out now — it claims it will take nearly five days to back up the 4270 items in my library (~20 GB). On the other hand, I don’t have to keep popping DVDs into my drive. (On the gripping hand, I’m not paying $24/year to backup my files to my own online storage — hopefully the syncing features will come along soon…)

Here’s the thing…it took me all day to back up my iTunes library to 26 DVDs. I’m pretty sure a station wagon full of magnetic tapes would guarantee me better throughput than the internet in this case.

Since I was confused by this, thought I'd post a quick clarification.

The "Services" directory needs to be created the first time you install a third-party service (which was the case on my new MacBook Pro). Also, if you install in /Library, instead of ~/Library, it will be available to all users.

Great utility, Russell.

Also, as someone posted over at MacAch, you could easily create a whole line of these services. There's already a dictionary search and a Google search installed be default, but how about MSN, Wiktionary, Google subpages (images, news, etc.) the possibilities are endless and you already have the basic framework done.

Again, thanks for whipping this up. It's one of the few such mini-utilities I've found that I will probably actually use.
